On February 6, following the devastating earthquake in Turkey, a 12-member volunteer team was deployed for response efforts. In a very short time, our volunteer team mobilized through its internal mechanisms, took necessary initiatives, and reached the disaster site on February 7.
Despite lacking equipment, we integrated with the 'civil defense teams', utilizing past personal experiences to conduct continuous search and rescue operations for nearly six days without pause. Every individual in the rubble was identified, and our team participated in all extraction efforts.
The needs in the area were determined and logistics and coordination studies were carried out with both Turkish authorities and stakeholders of the Turkish Cypriot community. The inventory entry and recording of personal belongings in the debris area, the establishment of a mobile morgue and the maintenance of its order were carried out by our volunteers.
